Faux Fossil

Original Owner:
Rosalie Hates K...
Fake Fossil (Framed)

Rhiannon has been a supporter of bARTer Sauce since the very beginning.

She is also the one who traded me The First Microwave Ever Made. The microwave that single-handedly almost killed bARTer Sauce and also made it a much more interesting project BOTH AT THE SAME TIME! "How," you ask? Really? You must never have heard the story about The First Microwave Ever Made.

Okay, do you want to know how heavy Stone Face is?

Well, example #1 is that we've kept him on our balcony since we got him. He held down some straw mat thing I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond before I burst into flames (I burst into flames at large, horrible stores like Bed Bath and Beyond and Ikea. "Burst into flames" = had panic attack).

Rosalie Trades Shower Art for a Cardboard Cutout of Herself

Ariane's Awesome Sauce Packaging

At first I had no idea what to take out of The Sauce in order to get my Shower Art in the mix for Lynn to trade me for it.

And then it hit me -- at the moment when I actually looked at the items available for trade -- I should trade for the cardboard cutout of...myself.

The reasons are five-fold.

Raffle Proprietor Forced to Trade with The Sauce when I win Eyes, Noses, Mouths, Yep They're All Here painting

bARTer Sauce Trade

During the December First Thursday Art Walk, I entered a raffle to win a painting for $1 on behalf of bARTer Sauce and I won. I rarely win anything. And never on behalf of The Sauce.

It was a special night.

After winning, I realized that I couldn't, in good conscience, enter the painting in The Sauce unless my raffle proprietor took an item off my hands as well. She did. And she couldn't have made a better choice. Maggie's handmade cake toppers have a new home already (I think that's some kind of Sauce turnaround record!).

Octavian trades me a painting called Transition in exchange for The photo of a Naked Chick by my studio partner Kimberly

bARTer Sauce struck it rich at First Thursday.

Rich I tell you. Rich. People kept coming in, reading about The Sauce and then going home to get me trades. Hells yes. This is how it's supposed to be. I suppose it helped that I actually printed out the stories that go with each item and posted them with the display. Without those, it's kind of just a big pile of weird stuff for no real reason. Now it has context and makes some sense. Huzzah!

Tim traded me this at the First Thursday Art Walk on 12/6.

Here is his story:

"The sketch book was made by a guy named DB -- one of my former neighbors in the Prudential Building here in Pioneer Square. When he moved out he threw out quite a bit of stuff including 3 sketch books. I took one of them apart and hung them as a border along my ceiling. I took another one apart and hung them on a wall and gave them away during artwalk. Thanks so much for trading the 3rd one for the ceramic chip bowl."

Tim Trades me an Abandoned Artists' Sketch Book for the Ceramic Chip and Dip Bowl with Ceramic Chips

Man Holding A Picture Of A Naked Woman

Tim came by First Thursday on 12/6 and read about bARTer Sauce.

He lives in the area and said he always finds cool artistey stuff abandoned in his building. He left and came back a bit later with this artists sketch book as a trade. How great is that? He picked out the ceramic chip and dip bowl complete with ceramic chips. Good taste too!

Maggie trades me cake toppers for Buddha package

Maggie wasn't really that excited to learn that she had to take the Pomegranite (really more of a dried out pomegranite husk) along with the Buddha trade package.

Oh well, now she knows.

Worried Man Painting and a Bazillion Vintage Cigarette Coupons for Arndt Boe's tombstone

Two Crazy Ladies Trading Things
Woman Holding Tombstone On Table

Okay, so Board President of Bad Fruit Foundation, Roberta Minor, will be getting the tombstone. And not because the home page of their website has a quote from me on it (a fact I realized when searching for the link to post here) but because she found the Worried Man painting in an alley. The painting that spawned at least one fight and one competition between my friend Colin and a museum. Colin lost. But Roberta will win!

An Item In bARTer Sauce - Painting from Zen Buddha Pen Pal Package
Buddha & bARTer Sauce
Pomegranite and postcards

Brit's story that came with the Buddha Letter Writing Zen Package:

To begin with I’m slightly pissed off at Colin (creator of the Hedgehog Wearing a Mask). He was supposed to be my PenPal… but out of the blue a few months ago he just up and stopped writing back to me. LAME!!
